Speaking of broken families, I was reminded of this Slice of Life manga called Oyasumi Punpun (occasionally it is nsfw). It's a sweet comic about a kid growing up, dealing with parents' marriage problems, falling in love, and the kid is drawn as a weird little bird thing.
